Our new breathwork programme

We’re looking forward to expanding our community and introducing more people to more breathing practices over the coming year. Conscious breathing practices can help you to manage stress, energise your body and feel more connected.

Each Friday, we’ll be hosting two group breathwork spaces:

  • 8-8.45am - in person at &Breathe in Wirksworth - sign-up here

  • 1-1.45pm - online - sign-up here

What to expect

These weekly conscious breathing sessions will help you learn and practice techniques that you can use in your everyday life.

For beginners, regulars and those with some experience of conscious breathing (e.g. as part of yoga or meditation), these sessions will:

  • Help you feel calm and focused by the end of our time together

  • Build up techniques for different contexts, such as dealing with stress, falling asleep or getting energised for the day

  • Develop your understanding of how your nervous system works and how and control it

And each session will follow the same structure:

1. Warm up - 15 minutes

2. Practice of the month - 20 minutes

3. Activating group breathe - 15 minutes

Warm up

We'll work through warm-up exercises each week and vary these regularly, so that you build up a range of ways to open up your breathing system

Practice of the month

  • We’ll introduce a new practice at the beginning of each month

  • Each practice will be linked to a particular context and benefit in your day or week, such as getting focused or dealing with anxiety

  • If you miss the intro session, it won't matter - you can catch up with clips via our instagram, plus we'll also go through the practice briefly each time we work through it

  • We'll also talk through what you can do on your own to get more confident and, if you like, make it part of a regular personal routine

Activating group breathe

  • We'll finish each week with an activating group breathe

  • This involves rounds of strong breathing, followed by breath holds and long, slow inhales and exhales

  • This will be a particular focus for personal practice and individuals are welcome to check in with me through the week to share progress or ask for help

For those joining our in-person session, we’ll also keep the space open for an additional hour to enjoy hot drinks and chats together for those who wish to stay.

Sign up to the sessions via our Eventbrite.

We can also design a bespoke programme for particular contexts - such as teams working in frontline services or communities who might particular benefits from having access to co-regulation and self-regulation through the power of breathing. Or you can also organise 1-2-1 sessions with Nick to focus on your personal goals and needs. Simply email nick@and-breathe.org to find out more.
